Terrington Hall's choirs were in fine voice during an afternoon of festive carol singing when they performed for visitors at Castle Howard and entertained the residents of a Malton residential home.
The senior choir, led by music director Julie Purcell, sang for shoppers and stallholders at Castle Howard's annual Christmas craft and produce market during which they were recorded live on BBC Radio York singing ‘Mary's Boy Child' and ‘Can You Hear What I Hear?'
On the same day, the Junior Choir led by Year Three class and music teacher Claire Woodhead, was warmly received by residents at the recently opened Hollis Court Residential Home in Malton.
Accompanied by Miss Woodhead on a resident's grand piano, the Year Three and Year Four pupils included a Spanish version of ‘Away in a Manger' (the children learn Spanish from Year Two) and songs from their forthcoming nativity ‘The Flower of Holy Night' amongst a range of traditional Christmas carols.
During the recital, Year Four pupil Bobby James handed round mince pies made by Terrington pre-prep pupils, and afterwards the children enjoyed meeting the residents.
‘It was a lovely to see young and old chatting and wishing each other Happy Christmas,' said Miss Woodhead.
