'School gets a good report for inspectors' (Gazette & Herald, 4 January 2012)
Pupils at Terrington Hall School are highly successful in their learning and personal development and benefit from a curriculum that challenges all ages, abilities and needs, allowing them to make rapid progress, according to inspectors from the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI).
The ISI report published this month goes on to say that pupils at the co-educational day and boarding school for 3-13 year olds develop extremely well spiritually, have an excellent sense of morality and that their outstanding social awareness is an extremely strong feature of the school.
Rating the overall achievement of the pupils as excellent, the inspectors judged them ‘well educated in accordance with the school's aims to provide each individual child with the opportunity to develop to the best of their potential'.
Jon Glen, Terrington Hall's headmaster since 1993, said: ‘It gives me huge pleasure to see so many aspects of Terrington Hall rated as excellent and outstanding, from the school's broad and demanding curriculum, pastoral care and provision at EYFS, to the relationship between staff and pupils, and school and parents.
‘Terrington strives for well-rounded, assured and courteous children confident of their talents wherever they lie. It is something that this report says we do extremely well across the ability range supported by an excellent extra-curricular programme.
‘Of course there are recommendations - in our case for more development planning and staff peer review - and we welcome the opportunity to address these to further improve the already high quality and breadth of education we offer.'
