Sport and Leisure
A child’s intellectual development is of tremendous importance, but we also provide a wide range of leisure activities including a broad sporting programme.
Rugby, Soccer and Cricket for boys; Netball, Rounders and Lacrosse for girls; Hockey, Athletics, Swimming and Cross Country for both; all are coached and played to a high level, but the key to all sports participation is enjoyment and our aim is to introduce children to a sport or sports tha
t will capture their enthusiasm and continue it into adulthood. Competitive matches against other schools are arranged in all major and some minor sports throughout the area and further afield. It is our hope that all pupils will have represented the school by the time they leave for, as well as helping to develop the full physical potential of each child, sport helps to foster confidence, self-esteem, social skills and teamwork. The magnificent Sports Hall, built for the Millennium, provides a first class modern facility to help us in our quest to provide “A Sport for All”.
We recognise that some children do not enjoy team sports and a number of activities, both physical and cerebral, are organised which will appeal to those who prefer an individual challenge. In recent times these have included Golf, Chess, Badminton, Table-Tennis, Tennis, Horse Riding, Canoeing, Climbing, Shooting (Clay Pigeon and Air Rifle), Judo and Fencing.
