U11 A Football vs. Easingwold Town AFC (28.01.12)
After two tough games earlier in the week this was going to be the hardest one out of the lot! I always knew that Easingwold would be a well drilled team with talented footballers in their squad and it was going to be a difficult afternoon. However, we also have a group of boys that know how to play football and the previous results have shown that to be the case. Once again we played a different formation due to the opposition wanting to play eight-a-side, so Tom Jones was drafted in from the B's to show what he was made of!
The first half was a tense affair but Terrington had the better of the play and should have been at least two up. The Easingwold keeper was having a fantastic game and pulled off some of the best saves I've seen at this age group. Nil-nil at half time. Into the second half and it was much the same as the first half until Tom J slid past the Easingwold defence and slotted the ball past the keeper. GOAL!!! Concentrate was the message from the coach. No need to worry as five minutes later Alex C went on one of his now famous jinky runs to make it two nil to the boys from Terrington. Easingwold never gave up and scored a well worked goal to make the final few minutes a tense affair for the home team. With all the boys now defending for their lives, Easingwold pressed hard with one last attack. A goal line clearance, aerial ping pong in the box, followed by Jack C huffing the ball out of play, and the final whistle blew. 2-1 to Terrington. A fantastic game of football and a thoroughly enjoyable way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Well done to all the boys from both teams for entertaining the large crowd on the sideline. Thank you to all the parents for supporting the boys and the kitchen staff for the best sausage and chips in Yorkshire!
