On a cold wet and windy day we set off for Sedbergh, ideal home conditions. It is always important to start well after travelling a long distance and this we duly did. After Eliza had taken a warm up we were ready to play and as both teams had one reserve we played eight a side so nobody was hanging around getting cold. We attacked from the very start playing straight down the middle of the field through the two defenders with Annabelle receiving the passes and distributing to the wider players Iona and Lily. Eliza took up some good positions running behind the forwards picking up lose ball. After about five minutes we broke the deadlock and never really looked back. By half time we were three ahead.
We stressed the importance of trying to keep playing in an unselfish manner by passing and moving. But it was Sedbergh who started the second half the better and before long they were attacking our goal. Emma and Angela did their best to stop the players at the edge of the D while Serena supported from the midfield. Despite this Scarlett was called into action producing a series of clearances but Sedbergh did get a deserved goal back. We settled back down and took possession of the ball Eliza dropped a little deeper and the forwards moved well in the space it created. Annabelle and Lily combined with some great passing and before long Annabelle had converted her third of the game. Sedbergh's heads dropped we changed a few positions around and Angela popped up from defense to score two very coolly taken goals.
It was probably the beat team performance of the season so far and from the coaches perspective good to see so much of what we have practised coming together on the pitch. Despite the scoreline much credit must go to the defense who today worked so well as a unit.
Final Score Terrington 6 - 1 Sedbergh
