With the sun shining we left Terrington for the gloom and cold of Harrogate. After some manoeuvering of the bus we had a quick warm up and the match commenced. The girls soon realised that this was going to be one to fight for and they were soon one down despite some great intercepting from Sophie, Olivia and Nicole. Shooters, Clemmie and Francesca had a couple of opportunities to shoot but kept losing the ball off the back line. The opposition ,however were intent on keeping the ball in play and with some very skilful work from the shooters they were up 2-0 at half time.
Miss Kilburn, a former Terringtonian came across to assist withe the umpiring in the second half and Terrington upped their game and had a great quarter with super defending from Lily and Erin was trying her best to use her height to scare the opposition! The third quarter ended 3-3.
The girls went onto the final quarter determined not to be defeated and they had some great passes with everyone trying their best. The ball was quickly passed down the line to the D and we scored two goals in quick succession but letting 2 in . The battle proceeded at a very fast pace, both teams with victory in their sights and it very nearly came true for Terrington as we were leading 5-4 ,but in the final minute Highfield broke through our defence to equalise.
I was pleased withe the girls playing today where they showed much greater determination . asfter two draws I would very much like to see a win at Friday's match against Read. Please note that the match starts at 1:30pm.
