Terrington Hall School

U12 v Harrogate Ladies College. Saturday 14th January

A beautiful day for netball, if a little chilly!

The game got off to a exciting start with the ball going from end to end, and the girls looking very evenly matched. The quick pace to the game lead to mistakes from Terrington and Harrogate took full advantage of these errors. The score was 4-1 at the end of the first quarter.

The girls were not pleased with their performance and went back fighting for every ball and made fewer mistakes. Centre court was dominated by Scarlett and Ella who fed the ball exceptionally well to our shooters, where Tara got her eye in and scored several goals supported by Abi. The girls combined well and lose balls were collected and won by Lily, Ellie, Chelsea and Ellen.

At half time we had clawed our way back into the game and were leading 6-5. The girls were feeling confident and had settled well into their positions. The third quarter saw the game fall apart for us and Harrogate scored 5 goals in quick succession, the girls struggled to keep up with the game and their heads dropped. We trailed into the final quarter with the score at 6-10.

I was hoping that the girls heads would lift and that we would get some more goals. Throughout the game it seemed that which ever team got the first goal of the quarter, would dominate the period. This just so happened to be the case for Terrington and Tara and Abi performed superbly well scoring 6 goals between them, with the defence only allowing 1 goal in for Harrogate. The final score was 12-11 to Terrington. This was an extremely exciting match and the girls played their socks off, it was a pleasure to umpire.

Excellent play from the twins, who dominated the court with their agressive and skillful play. They were my women of the match! Well done!
