We welcomed Mr Turner, Mrs Sandiford, many parents and the boys for their annual tour of North Yorkshire. Plenty of our parents turned up too and a very large crowd witnessed a great game. As has been the pattern of late, our scrum struggled in the set piece, but made up for it with some powerful rucking, enabling our backs to make good ground with the ball in hand. George Breese battled over the line twice, with desperate defenders clinging on, Gabriel continued his fine form with a brace and George Black scored yet again. Gaby kicked all the conversions and for the second game in a row, we scored 42 points. Mr Turner had been concerned about the application of his lads, but he need not have worried: Great Houghton did themselves great credit and never gave up, scoring two fine tries of their own. As in our last match, every boy from Game 2 had their chance to play and Tom Jones put in an almighty bosh, which was most entertaining! After match tea, there was a presentation: Jack Clark received a lovely Northampton rugby ball and the excellent referee, Mr Glen, and myself were forced to accept some fine ale! Happy days all round.
