Vs Aysgarth

Written by  Nick Witteveen

Saturday 12th November, 2011.

The less said about this one, the better! We arrived at Aysgarth in good time, but everything felt a little flat and I was worried that we were not really up for the match. Maybe it was an aura of invincibility about the opposition or maybe we were feeling drained after a few tough matches of late, but whatever the reason we did not really do ourselves justice. Of course, there were several outstanding individual performances, most notably from Jack Clark, but our teamwork was not up to its usual standard. This is not to denigrate an excellent Aysgarth side, whose mobile pack completely dominated and whose backs ran straight and hard; they were the better side, of that there is no doubt. Tries were scored by George Black, following a quick piece of thinking, and Max Twiddle following some sustained pressure and quick recycling. I realise the chaps are tired, but we are nearly at the end of a splendid season, so hang on in there, lads!
