1st Xv vs. St. Olave's
Last Wednesday saw us playing our final match of the 15 a-side season. We started extremely strongly, helped in no small part by the return of Cameron to Scrum-half. The added excitement of several senior school directors of sport and a Leicester Tigers scout helped to provide the boys with a bit of extra get-up-and-go and for the first half we were much the better side.
We scored three tries in the first half, all as a result of building pressure and working through the phases. Jack scored twice and Cameron added a third. Se went into half time feeling confident but knowing that St. Olave's had brought a large squad and had some players waiting in reserve. The second half was a different story, having made some changes St. Olave's were stronger and scored four tries, three of which were converted. The final score of 15 - 26 was probably a fair result.
It was excellent to see that we were much tighter in defence, especially out wide and looked after the ball when we had possession. A special mention must be made of Jordan, his first game in the second row was completed successfully and by the end he began to look quite at home in his new position.
I have greatly enjoyed working with all of the boys this season. They are, without a doubt, the most talented squad I have ever worked with. I hope they continue to enjoy their rugby as they move on up through their future schools.
