Senior management team

Mme Claire Grant

Deputy Head Pastoral, Designated Safeguarding Lead, Teacher of Spanish
(BA Hons Spanish and French- Manchester Met and PGCE in Primary Education, York St John)
Claire joined Terrington Hall in 2005 as a French Teacher and introduced Spanish from Reception throughout  the school. Spanish remains a popular choice for our pupils at GCSE at their Senior Schools. She is now Deputy Head Pastoral, Deputy Safeguarding Lead and teacher of Spanish from Year 4-Year 8. The role of DHP encompasses many areas including a full overview of the pastoral system, supporting staff and children with their wellbeing and supporting the recruitment, induction and mentoring of new staff.
Claire took a degree in French and Spanish, spending a year in Seville and Bordeaux and then went into international banking using her languages. She retrained as a teacher in her late 30s having had a demanding career as a Manager for a French recruitment company in Bristol, and had three daughters whilst supporting her husband in the running of a girls’ boarding house in an Independent Secondary School in York.
In her free time, Claire is a member of a local book club, is a voracious reader and enjoys cycling having finally bought an electric bike. She enjoys travelling and visiting galleries, keeping up with her friends and entertaining when time allows. Her three daughters are now in London working, so that is a popular visiting spot these days.

Mr Stuart Keens

Deputy Head Academic, Teacher of Maths
(BCertHE Computing, BSc (Hons) Mathematics Education, MA (Education), PGCert (Leadership and Management) and FCIEA (Fellow, Chartered Institute of Educational Assessors, 2010))

Miss Rachel I'Anson

Assistant Head, Pupil Wellbeing and Mental Health, Head of Pre-Prep, Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
BA (Hons) Primary Education and English, York St John University
Rachel started her career in the Early Years Foundation Stage, and joined Terrington Hall in 2010. She soon led the Early Years team and later progressed into senior leadership as Head of Pre-Prep. She is also Assistant Head in school, with a focus on Children’s Mental Health and Wellbeing.
Rachel is passionate about forming solid relationships with her students and parents, to ensure that the best support and care can be given. She feels that a healthy mental wellbeing is what encompasses a whole rounded education.
Rachel also draws on her experience and expertise in leading teams, recognising that staff should be empowered to seek new initiatives to maintain super professional development but also to keep their learning environments vibrant, fresh and exciting. In her free time, Rachel enjoys walking, crafting and singing but most importantly spending precious time with her partner and their children.

Mr Paul Mulryne

Assistant Head Co-curricular, Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead and Teacher of English
BA (Hons) Leicester University, PGCE Hull University
Paul Mulryne began his teaching career as a secondary school English Specialist in York and then Hull. Following a break from teaching, he joined Moorlands Prep School in Leeds, where he was Head of English, Head of Diploma and, later, Deputy Head. After a decade at Moorlands, he moved to Terrington Hall in 2015 to take up the role of Head of English.
Away from teaching, Paul enjoys writing bad short stories and even worse poetry. He has two novels gathering dust in a drawer somewhere! Other hobbies include walking with his teenage son, mountain biking and road cycling. Rumour has it that he can, very occasionally, be seen walking round a rugby pitch with his hands on his hips and a pained expression on his face, supposedly representing Malton RUFC for the Veterans. He has aspirations to be a gardener… then again, he also has aspirations to be an astronaut. Neither seem likely to succeed.
Paul lives in Malton with his two children Connor and Katie who both attended Terrington Hall.

Mrs Doobori Hazorika-Stéphany

Head of Lower Prep and Year 5 Teacher
Born and raised in the North East of England, Doobori was educated in an all-girls environment at Teesside High School. She went on to study Medicine at St George’s Hospital Medical School in London and Durham University, before realising her true vocation was teaching.

Prior to joining Terrington Hall, Doobori was a Form Tutor and Resident Housemistress at St Martin’s Ampleforth for five years. Arriving at Terrington Hall in 2018, Doobori has loved teaching Year 5 and is now the Head of Lower Prep.
Doobori enjoys a wide range of outdoor pursuits including horse riding and mountain biking. Her greatest passion is skiing and she is a qualified instructor.
