Our community doesn’t begin and end with parents. It also includes current and past staff members, alumni, the wider family and friends, and members of the local community.

The Friends stage events throughout the year to bring together our community. Recent examples include a quiz night, a Midsummer ball and auction, a fantastic fireworks display – and our ever-popular annual Christmas Fair.

This summer, our parents are invited to join a fabulous Champagne and Canapes event on the front lawn. It’s a very relaxed evening when parents mingle on the front lawn and have the chance to catch up in a more grown-up setting.

Past events have been extremely successful – and blessed with good weather – and we have every expectation that this one will prove equally popular.

It’s all thanks to the dedication of the Friends, who work together to host fabulous social events aimed at both our children and their families.  The events are aimed at boosting our wonderful community spirit, as well as raising funds for the school.

Our fundraising objectives

Foremost of The Friends’ key objectives is to fundraise for specific projects that are outside the school’s core budget. They’ve recently purchased a marquee to help weatherproof outdoor events. Other recent contributions include the ‘hobbit house’ which is used both for outdoor learning and for play-time relaxation.
They have also donated pitch-side team shelters, forest school equipment and several zorbing balls enjoyed by boarders on summer nights on our vast playing fields.

Bringing people together

Secondly, and of equal importance, is The Friends’ aim of acting as an organiser of events that bring people together and enhance the sense of community that is evident within the school. These events are a great opportunity for parents to get to know their children’s friends’ parents in more relaxed surroundings, as well as meet the families of children across Terrington Hall.

Other events that are held throughout the year are Burns Night, Fireworks Evening and legendary Christmas Fair. Previous events have included Terrington Strictly Come Dancing, a Sporting Dinner, Family Fun Days, and the Three Peaks Challenge.
