Old Terringtonian selected for GB U17 cadet rifle team

Freddie Cade with Lucas Cup

Old Terringtonian Freddie Cade has been selected for the British Cadet Rifle Team’s U17 tour to Canada in August 2019. Two years ago, he represented Great Britain at U16 at the Jersey Open.

Freddie, who left Terrington in 2015 on a sports scholarship to Sedbergh, began target shooting three years’ ago in Year 9 at Sedbergh.

During his meteoric shooting career, he has won champion cadet in the North with military assault rifles and has represented the full Yorkshire team at long range at Bisley and also in the Roses match against Lancashire.

Selection for the U17 tour follows a highly successful season in which Freddie was a member of the Sedbergh team which won the Ashburton Shield, the highly competitive inter-school shooting competition, and also the Lucas cup.

Last summer at Bisley, home of the National Rifle Association, he qualified for the Queen’s Final and the St George’s Final. These achievements would rank him within the best 50-100 shooters in the UK and approximately the best 100 in the Commonwealth.

Freddie’s future ambition is to tour South Africa and New Zealand with the older GB teams.

Freddie, who was awarded his academic colours at Sedbergh for his outstanding GCSE results, is studying Maths, English and Economics in the Lower Sixth. He would like to go on to university to study Economics.

Freddie is pictured above  receiving the Lucas Cup from  John Warburton, Captain of the British shooting team, on behalf of Sedbergh’s shooting team.
