Amazing things come in small packages and none more so than in Year 5 pupil Constance Paley who has been awarded her black belt in karate after a 6-hour grading exam in December.

This is an extraordinary achievement in one so young, especially as it has taken Constance only three years when it can take up to five.

Having enjoyed her first taste of karate at Terrington Hall’s after-school club, Constance began training with Sensei Steve of the Ryedale and York karate club Budo-Kan-Karate-Do in 2017. She attends weekly classes with her older brother Jacob who has also been awarded his black belt. They soon progressed from the children’s classes to the adult classes and have even been joined by their parents who are currently working towards their brown belts.

Constance now aims to work her way through the Dan grades and hopes to be graded for her 1st Dan in June 2020.
