The power of kindness
Kindness is at the heart of everything at Terrington Hall. One of the most practical ways we demonstrate this core value is by working together to support charities. This allows every child to experience the joy and satisfaction of helping others.
Every academic year the school selects a charity to support. Our community then comes together for a range of fundraising activities – everything from bucket collections to fundraising days and activities, and charity auctions.
Charity of the Year 2026-27
Our Charity of the Year 2026-27 is Spencer Dayman Meningitis Research, which funds innovative research to end preventable deaths and disability from meningitis, sepsis and other associated diseases.
Meningitis is a disease that affects many families and communities. We are particularly proud to support a family within our own school community who have been personally supported through the charity and who work tirelessly to raise awareness following the tragic loss of their beautiful daughter, Clara.
The Spencer Dayman Research Trust was founded in 1983 by Steve Dayman MBE (left, in the picture) after he lost his son Spencer, aged 14 months, to meningococcal meningitis and septicaemia. Today the Spencer Dayman Meningitis Laboratories at the University of Bristol focus on diverse aspects of science aimed at eradicating meningitis and related diseases such as sepsis.
Research is the key to eradicate all forms of the disease and our fundraising activities this year will help ensure that this vital work continues.

Support for great causes
Over the years, our school community has raised an incredible amount of money for a range of wonderful causes, both local and nationwide. Past charities include Nayamba School in rural Zambia, Myeloma UK, the Dove House Hospice, Candlelighters, and Lollipop. We also support Children in Need, Red Nose Day, Jeans for Genes and other great charities.
Children take the lead
Children also suggest, plan and carry out fundraising for causes close to their heart. As part of the TALL Programme, Year 8 pupils suggest and carry through a range of fundraising activities, from sponsored walks to bake sales.
The generosity and commitment of our parents’ group, the Friends of Terrington Hall, plays a significant role in our charity fundraising too. Their involvement ensures that the causes we support are close to everyone’s hearts. The Friends also support many of our development projects at school.
Pupils learn the value of helping others and that they can make a difference in the world.
