A Woodland Wonderland: Our Magical New Library Opens
“Where every book is a doorway to wonder.”
We are thrilled about the opening of our enchanting new library at the start of the Lent term—a space designed to nurture a lifelong love of reading across our school community.
Inspired by the ambition of “bringing the outside in,” this woodland-themed haven invites pupils to step into a world of imagination, curiosity and calm.
The vision of our Head of English Mrs Thomas was beautifully realised through the creativity of our Art teacher, Mrs MacNicol, and the generous support of parents’ group The Friends of Terrington Hall. Together, they have created a sanctuary where stories bloom and adventures await.
Our library is more than a room; it is a gateway to discovery. Each class enjoys a weekly session in this inspiring space, while pupils in Years 5–8 can visit throughout the day to choose new books. Dedicated reading slots ensure every child has regular opportunities to explore and enjoy the library. Thoughtfully-zoned areas make navigation easy and link seamlessly with our Accelerated Reading programme.
Mrs Thomas said: “Over the past year, we’ve seen a remarkable increase in both the quality and quantity of reading across the school. This magical new library will only deepen that progress. It is a creative, woodland sanctuary for all children and a space where imagination can truly flourish. We are immensely grateful to The Friends of Terrington Hall and everyone who collaborated on this project.”
We’re delighted that the opening coincides with the National Year of Reading, a Department for Education initiative aimed at reconnecting reading with everyday culture. Come inside our library and you’ll find a world where stories whisper from the shelves and every corner invites adventure.
Parents commend both the ‘warm, friendly and cohesive community’ and the ‘caring environment and dedicated teaching staff’.
