Courage and teamwork in exciting House quiz

Tension and teamwork combined to make an exciting House quiz as Castle, Moor and Forest tested their general knowledge.

Four representative from each House were chosen from Year 3 – 8 volunteers by Mrs Cole’s electronic wheel of destiny. They took their seats to roars of encouragement from their Housemates – and hands quickly hovered over buzzers.

Quizmaster Mr Witteveen set the pace with a series of challenging, quick-fire questions on a range of topics from sport to art.

Castle, led by Ava and Jess, raced to an early lead with some accurate and speedy buzzing. They also made the most of the bonus questions.

But the Forest team, spearheaded by Aidan and Will, launched an incredible comeback, only just pipping the fleet-fingered Castle to the buzzer on more than one occasion. The audience of Year 3 – 8 pupils were on the edges of their seat with excitement and were ready with answers if Mr Witteveen took a question to the floor.

As the end neared, Forest took control with some very impressive general knowledge. Castle mounted a late rally but Forest held their nerve and were crowned well-deserved winners.

Well done to all the contestants, who showed great courage to volunteer and put themselves in the spotlight.

Everyone looks forward to House events such as the big quiz and spelling bee.
