Harrogate Competitive Festival Success

Ten children from Terrington Hall impressed judges and a sizeable audience at the Harrogate Competitive Festival of Music, Speech and Drama.

They competed in a range of classes, from Verse Speaking and Prepared Reading to Solo Acting and Shakespeare at the annual event, staged at Harrogate High School.

Congratulations to Emily, who was placed 2nd in Verse Speaking Age 12 & 13 and 3rd in Shakespeare Age 15 & Under; Darcie, who was placed 2nd in Shakespeare Age 15 & Under, and Imogen, who was placed 3rd in Shakespeare Age 15 & Under. Also to Emilia, who was placed 1st in both Solo Acting Age 11 & Under and Prepared Reading Age 9 & Under.

Drama teacher Rowena Lloyd said: “The performances were excellent, and all who attended thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Well done to everyone who took part!”

The Festival is an educational trust which aims to improve and enhance the performing skills of musical, singing and speech and drama students. Its annual competition attracts talented young people from across the north of England.

I loved seeing everyone involved and the opportunity for the children to try something new and challenge their comfort zones in a kind and supportive environment.
