Lower Prep shine in The Wind In The Willows
The Lower Prep production of The Wind in the Willows was an entertaining, effervescent blast of energy, fun, confidence and talent.
Years 3, 4 and 5 worked tirelessly throughout the half term on the performance, wowing teachers during rehearsals with their commitment to learning their lines, songs and choreography.
It was a relatively long production but every cast member remained in character throughout, working together to produce a warm and laughter-filled show which will be remembered for a very long time.
Every child thought about their role and developed it into a larger-than-life version of the character on the page, and the result was a captivating and engaging performance.
The Wind in the Willows, based on Kenneth Grahame’s novel, follows the adventures of Mole, Ratty, Badger and the irrepressible Mr Toad as they navigate friendship, mischief and the dangers of the Wild Wood.
Themes including loyalty, courage and the importance of home were explored, through the fast-moving plot and incredibly catchy songs.
The wonderful set was produced by Art teacher Millie MacNicol, with some pretty scary Wild Wood trees created by teaching assistant Linda Rogers.
Many thanks to Director Rebecca Thomas (Head of Lower Prep), Assistant Director Sarah Wilson and Musical Director Nicola Dance.
Elaine Watt and her team excelled with the make-up and Libby Richardson and David Knock ensured the sound and lights were tip top. Well done everyone!
This is a place that oozes character – a busy, high energy, very outdoorsy, characterful, wholesome, rural Prep School with great kids and (just about as great) adults that all get stuck in.
