National Quiz Club success

A team of pupils from Years 3 to 6 has reached the semi-finals of a national general knowledge competition after going up against teams from schools across the country.

Four children were selected to represent Terrington Hall in the National Prep School Quiz Club Championships after a series of tests within their forms. Albie (Year 3), Sebastian (Year 4), Ben (Year 5) and Emilia (Year 6) then pitted their wits against 61 other teams in an online heat.

Teamwork was vital to success as pupils could choose to answer as individuals – or as a team to gain maximum points. As team captain, Emilia, pictured, above, had to decide after a discussion whether they were confident enough to submit a joint answer.

The team finished in ninth position out of 62 teams – a phenomenal performance and the first time that Terrington Hall has qualified for the semi-finals since 2014. They will now represent the school in the semi-finals at the end of November.

Assistant Head Co-Curricular Katie Cole said: “Our team showed huge confidence and impressive teamwork in what was a tense and exciting heat. The Quiz Club process encourages curiosity and helps develop strategic thinking, which all feeds into our drive to expand children’s horizons. We’re very proud of Albie, Sebastian, Ben and Emilia; I can’t wait to see how they fare in the semi-final.”

Pupils participate in various sports and represent their school in competitions and fixtures. These help to build confidence, teamwork and leadership skills.
