Pre-Prep presents Pirates vs Merfolk
Pre-Prep children took us on a magical high seas adventure for their spectacular production of Pirates vs Merfolk, providing their appreciative audience with an entertaining end-of-term finale.
The musical celebrates courage, kindness and the joy of working together, with the two groups of characters discovering that friendship and cooperation are far more valuable than rivalry.
The children, aged between three and seven, charmed their families by throwing themselves wholeheartedly into the performance, displaying our school values of confidence and courage at their best.
Scary pirates and disdainful merfolk clashed and argued via some fantastically upbeat songs, with some accomplished choreography which belied their tender years.
Once the pirates and merfolk looked beyond their superficial differences, they realised that they had much in common and that a world filled with friendship is a far better place to be.

The story was narrated clearly and with feeling by Year 2 children, and the same year group also created some amazing artwork to illustrate the performance’s programme.
Pre-Prep children swayed and swirled beautifully as The Sea, joining the singing with gusto and remaining beautifully calm when the focus switched to the pirates and merfolk tussling above the waves.
Many thanks to the parents for providing such colourful costumes. Thanks, too, to Director Mrs Dance, Assistant Directors Mrs Morrell and Miss Wilson, Mrs MacNicol for the wonderful scenery and props, and Mr Bell and his team for preparing the stage.
The Catering team, as always, provided some much-appreciated refreshments.
Huge congratulations to children in Pre-School, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 for entertaining us all with such a fabulous, feel-good performance.
I cannot thank you enough for all of your help and support with our son, and really understanding all of his needs (and quirks!) I cannot express how reassuring this has been for us and we are incredibly grateful.
