Prestigious scholarship for Annabelle
One of Terrington Hall Prep School’s three Heads of School, Annabelle Davidson, has been awarded the Sir Michael Palin All-Rounder Scholarship by Shrewsbury School.
The scholarship, named after one of the independent school’s most famous alumni, is highly prized and recognizes all-round talent. Year 8 pupil Annabelle, aged 12, impressed in a rigorous application process of academics, music and sport, to achieve it.
Simon Kibler, Headmaster at Terrington Hall, said: “We are very proud of Annabelle, who is without doubt very talented. She’s strong academically, plays hockey, netball, cricket and tennis for our school and local clubs. She is in the choir, plays the piano and oboe and also loves drama and is a voracious reader.
“She is also a superb role model, and passionate about caring for and giving younger children a voice. Congratulations to Annabelle on her well-deserved Sir Michael Palin Scholarship.”
When the Scholarship was launched, Shrewsbury School’s then-Headteacher said: “We are trying to attract boys and girls who are bright, have a sense of fun and adventure, and who will bring a range of talents and enthusiasms to the school.”
Monty Python star Sir Michael (left), now an actor and presenter, said her was “honoured” to lend his name to the Scholarship, and that he hoped recipients would leave Shrewsbury School “having discovered that everything that seemed impossible was possible.”
Shrewsbury School was founded in 1552 and named Britain’s Independent School of the Year in 2020. Other famous alumni include Charles Darwin and Sir Michael Heseltine.
We are totally delighted with how all the teachers and other students have been so helpful and made an effort to make our daughter feel so welcome.
