Scholarship success for Year 8 pupils

Several Year 8 pupils gained prestigious scholarships to senior schools this year, a reflection of our focus on all-round excellence and supporting every pupil to achieve their goals.

Oundle School, Sedbergh School, Ampleforth College and Scarborough College all offered our pupils scholarship places from September. The awards recognised their potential and enthusiasm in disciplines including music, sport, academic excellence and zest for school life.

Jess and Ava received Oundle Scholarships, awarded to pupils with interest and ability in two or more fields. Jasper’s wide range of talents was recognised by an All-Rounder Scholarship from Scarborough College.

Alfie, a talented singer, was awarded a Choral Scholarship to Sedbergh College. Charles and Jasper were both awarded Basil Hume Sport Scholarships to Ampleforth College, in recognition of their skills and leadership in their fields.

The fact that five children out of a small year group of 15 children were recognised by senior schools from a very competitive field shows how highly regarded Terrington Hall children are.

Headmaster Huw Thomas said: “We’re thrilled that the talents of Jess, Ava, Arthur, Charles and Jasper have been recognised by these senior schools. They all also have a fantastic positivity and are willing to work hard to achieve their goals.”

He added: “We focus on helping pupils to fulfil their potential, whatever their talent, interest or skill. We also help them to develop the confidence and resilience to continue to make great progress after they leave Terrington Hall. We’re proud of all this year’s Year 8 leavers and with them every success at their senior schools.”
