Sedbergh School scholarships recognise sporting talent
Three of our Year 8 pupils have been offered sought-after Sports Scholarships by Sedbergh School, in recognition of their all-round dedication and potential.
George, Olivia and Betsy impressed during assessments and interviews at the senior school, whose international reputation for sporting excellence makes its scholarship places hotly-contested. They also had to show the assessors that they shared Sedbergh’s core values and growth mindset, with the Terrington Hall value of Kindness among them.
Betsy’s enthusiasm, commitment and sportsmanship across a range of sports was recognised by Sedbergh. She is Terrington Hall’s Under 13 Girls’ Hockey Captain and represented North Yorkshire at U12 level. She is also a talented cricketer, playing for North Yorkshire and Sessay, and represents North Yorkshire and City of York at hockey.
Olivia, one of our Heads of School, is also a versatile and accomplished sportswoman. She particularly excels on the athletics track and at cross country. She plays for both North Yorkshire and City of York at hockey, as well as being a key member of the Terrington Hall hockey team. She also enjoys both netball and cricket.
George is a very talented cross country runner, athlete and rugby player. This year he was made Terrington Hall’s Under 13 Rugby Captain, and he also plays for York RUFC. He loves the outdoors and his enthusiasm for sport and many other outdoor pursuits inspires his peers to dig deeper.
We are extremely proud of Olivia, Betsy and George and look forward to see them develop their talents further through hard work, resilience and sportsmanship.
As a standalone prep school, Terrington Hall is uniquely positioned to help families select the right senior school for their child, rather than steering them through to a specific linked school. The Headmaster and our experienced Upper Prep staff know children well and use their extensive knowledge of senior schools to give families advice and suggest possible destinations
Hard to find fault with this thoroughly wholesome co-ed Prep school in a dreamy rural setting, with a family vibe and great results.
