Skiing fun in the French Alps
Our annual ski trip was a huge success, with all 26 children and three staff enjoying an exhilarating week in La Plagne in the French Alps.
From the moment they arrived at their hotel in the heart of La Plagne, the party was itching to get out onto the slopes. La Plagne’s extensive ski area includes pistes for all levels of skier, so there really was something for everyone.
The pupils were grouped by skiing ability and spent four hours of lessons each day with the French Ski School. Whether they were beginners or highly competent, cautious or without fear, every child felt happy and comfortable on the slopes.
The children spanned the whole of the prep school in age but without prompting they brought our school buddy scheme ethos to the slopes. Older children looked out for younger ones and the more confident skiers hung back to check up on those who were progressing more slowly.
Both the staff and instructors were impressed by our pupils’ fantastic behaviour and can-do attitude. Whether they were learning new skills, honing technique or mastering the ski lifts, the children could always raise a smile.
The weather was mostly fine and sunny; perfect for a snowball fight, sledging and après ski fun. Sometimes it was enough to enjoy the stunning views with a warming hot chocolate. But for most children, the thrill of zooming down the slopes with their friends was just the best!
Thank you to Mr Hyde for organising the trip and to Miss Durée and Mr Burton for helping to supervise. We’re already looking forward to next year’s snowy adventure!
Terrington Hall is a friendly, happy school which has given our children lots of confidence and opportunities to try a broad range of activities. It also sets them up well for senior schools.
