Togetherness and teamwork at House festival

Children launched the new academic year with a fun-filled House Festival which enforced our emphasis on togetherness and teamwork.

Every child was involved in the day-long activity, which involved collaborating with others from their House across the year groups, on tasks involving creativity, movement – and enjoyment.

Castle, Moor and Forest were all tasked with creating banners which represented their Houses. Children from the Prep School (Year 3 upwards) also created outfits for a House fashion show, and practised and performed a song.

Teachers were on-hand in a supervisory capacity and were extremely impressed by the leadership of older pupils. They ensured the younger children were heard during the planning stages, and that they were involved in the fantastic creations each House produced.

Everyone threw their energy in to the performance of their dance, and the fun and satisfaction of seeing their ideas through to this final stage was wonderful to see.

Headmaster Mr Thomas and Deputy Head Miss I’Anson had the unenviable duty of judging the Houses in each Festival category. They very much enjoyed listening to the children explain the thinking behind their creations and the work involved in creating them.

Luckily, the honours in each category were evenly spread, ensuring each House had lots to celebrate and cheer about!
