U13 girls are national hockey champions

Well done to our U13 girls’ hockey team, who have won a national hockey tournament held at Rugby School.

The girls are National IAPS Small Schools Hockey Champions after beating teams representing schools from Oxfordshire, Berkshire, the Home Counties and the Cotswolds at the event, organised by the Independent Association of Prep Schools.

Terrington Hall’s team started pre-season training during the summer holidays and their hard work was rewarded by notching up more goals than any other team during the tournament.

Clare Rieder, Head of Girls’ Games, said: “We scored multiple goals from short [penalty] corners, making worthwhile all the hours the girls have spent practising them!”

She added: “I’m immensely proud of the team. They showed such grit and determination, working tirelessly throughout the morning rounds of the competition to gain as many goals as possible.

“The hard work they have put in since our Pre-Season training at the end of August was well rewarded by a fabulous day of hockey. Well done girls, I look forward to seeing what else we can achieve this season!”

Simon Kibler, Headmaster, added: “Huge congratulations to Mrs Rieder and the U13 team, who have shown that hard work and practice really does pay off. As a spectator, I was most impressed by the girls’ fantastic team spirit, mutual encouragement and support. Mrs Rieder also did a fantastic job of motivating everyone.”
