We Will Remember Them
The school community marked Armistice Day with a moving Service of Remembrance around the school flagpole, when wreaths were laid to honour the sacrifices made in war.
We were joined by special guests the Ampleforth Highlanders Pipe Band, led by Bryan Robinson, and by Major James Rieder, who both made valued contributions to the service.
Flautists Lily and Thea played Amazing Grace beautifully and Henry was impressively composed for his superb Reveille. Wreaths were laid by our Heads of School Emily and Edward, and by children from Terrington CofE Primary School. Prayers were led by our prefects.
An impressive Remembrance display made by children in their TALL and DT lessons helped set the scene for the service. They included plywood crosses, painted and stuck into the lawn in the shape of a poppy, and a model Lancaster bomber leaving a trail of poppies in its wake.
