Year 8’s Drama trip to London is a roaring success
Year 8 enjoyed an exciting Drama trip to London, when they explored the Natural History Museum before watching a West End performance of The Lion King.
The group came face to face with a huge animated T Rex in the Dinosaur Gallery.
They were wowed by the huge blue whale skeleton which dominates the main hall, and by other deep sea creatures from various points in the the earth’s evolution.
Year 8 also journeyed down into the inner workings of our planet at the Earth Hall, where interactive exhibits showcased the powerful forces swirling beneath our feet.

After a pizza lunch and a well-behaved Tube journey, Year 8 arrived at the impressive Lyceum Theatre for the matinee performance of The Lion King.
Following Upper Prep’s accomplished performance of the show last year, our pupils had high expectations of this production. Here are some of their reviews:
“My favourite part of the show was the beginning when all the animals walked through the aisle and also when Scar fell of the rock the end.”
“I loved the beginning when everyone was singing and all of the animals were on stage. Definitely the best show I have ever seen.”
“My favourite part was when the lionesses did the shadowlands dance as they were brilliant. The costumes were spectacular.”
“I really enjoyed the show and my favourite bit was when Mufasa died because the Wildebeests were cool and Mufasa falling was very cinematic.”
“I liked the bit when Rafiki was showing Simba his father, who had died. It was very emotional but funny at the same time.”
“There was some very good synchronisation of all the singing and dancing, with lots of dramatic moments. The special effects and costumes are insane! We all very much enjoyed it and would rate it a 10/10. Thank you very much to Mrs Dance and Mr Knock for taking us. We all had an amazing day.”
Co-curricular options include orchestra, swim squad, debating, wellbeing, friendship bracelets and nescientes, which stretches and challenges more academic pupils to deliver higher level thinking skills.
