Our first Gala took place on Thursday 22nd September against Aysgarth away. 24 boys were picked and the team consisted of Nat Esler (C), Adam Reid, Robert Farnell, Juan Irastorza, Jörn Langrick, Toby Welch, Edward Browne, Alex Clark , Crispin Tate, Alexander Smith, Thomas Easteby, Seth Fotherby, Charlie Thompson, Zander Buchanan, Nathan Humphrey, Will Stott, Theo Hoggard, Rollo Storey, Jacob Paley, Archie Reid, Henry Dexter-Smith, Ted Hall, Oliver Tate and Sam Scarff. 9 of these boys were representing the school for the first time and were a little nervous.

The boys warmed up and the match started. Theo and Jacob started us off with a 1st and 2nd placing in the backstroke (respectively). This is traditionally one of the Terrington boys' weaker strokes , so I am hopeful for the future. The U9s notched up further wins from Archie Reid in frontcrawl and Sam Scarff in breaststroke. The U11 competition was fiercely contested with 2nd placings from Crispin, Thomas and William. The U13s have huge potential and Captain Nat was awarded 'swimmer of the day' with his 1st place in butterfly- he really does make it look effortless....Toby came 2nd in breastroke and at the half way point the score was 38 to Aysgarth and 24 to Terrington. Each boy swam in two relays-a medley and a freestyle and we were 2nd in all races bringing the final total to 144 for Aysgarth and Terrington Hall:98.

It was closer than it has been in recent years and well done to all boys who really tried hard. Many thanks to Mr Mulryne for co-piloting. Our next match is against Cundall Manor School on Tuesday November 8th.
