The school day for Year 3 to Year 5 runs from 8.30am to 4.30pm every day except Wednesday and is filled with exciting lessons and activities. Many children stay until 5.30pm to complete their prep. From Year 3, children can take part in the exciting programme of evening activities. If they are not staying overnight in the Boarding House the collection time is 7.30pm.
Our aim over these first three years in the main school is for children to enjoy learning. Whether moving up from Year 2 in Pre-Prep or joining us from another school, pupils settle quickly and embrace the broad range of opportunities on offer in Lower Prep.
Our topic-based approach is designed to develop independence and inquisitive minds. Interactive lessons appeal to a variety of learning styles and approaches and encourage children to make new discoveries and identify links between subjects which extends their knowledge. A variety of educational trips and visits enrich learning.
Pupils continue to be taught by their class teacher, with subject specialists for Music, Art, PE, Spanish, Games and Swimming.
Games quickly becomes very important to many of the children and everyone takes part in matches against other schools. Year 3 and 4 become the U9s and Year 5 join the U11 squad.
With small classes and excellent pastoral care we ensure that no one gets overlooked. We strive to increase children’s confidence, both in terms of their learning skills and emotional resilience.
In this nurturing yet purposeful environment we equip children with all the skills they need to grow into well-rounded individuals who can confidently face the world of tomorrow.
