During this final formative year in the Pre-Prep, we seek to inspire independent thinkers and learners.
The children continue to consolidate and build upon their learning experiences. In literacy, they are introduced to comprehension skills through a range of texts and have opportunities to develop their creative minds through a variety of genres.
Numeracy lessons incorporate problem-solving activities to build and extend the children’s knowledge and understanding. Further challenge and extension work is provided to pupils ready to move on to the next level and extra support is available for those who need it.
The balanced curriculum taps into children’s natural curiosity and eagerness to learn and covers all aspects of their development including social, emotional, physical and intellectual.
Core subjects are taught by the class teacher with input from specialist teachers for subjects including PE, Swimming, Spanish and Music. There are opportunities to take private music lessons with specialist teachers as well as a range of after-school activities including free sport and creative clubs.
Our small class sizes and excellent teacher to pupil ratios ensures that every child is given the individual care and attention to equip them to move on to the next stage with confidence.
The transition to Year 3 in Lower Prep is an exciting step. Children have the opportunity to visit beforehand, becoming familiar with the staff and surroundings. Parents also benefit from introductory meetings and the opportunity to get to know the Lower Prep teaching staff.
